Discovering the power of Ayurveda cosmetics

With super sensitive skin, I have literally spent years, trialling different products (moisturisers, organic lipsticks, face serums, eye serums), and sometimes I’m lucky and the product won’t make my skin break out in a rash. I always always keep those products at home and I regularly use and buy them. It’s a case of trial and error for me and learning along the way. My skin changes too depending on the climate, where I am, my stress levels or other external factors. So it’s about using the right product at the right time.

I recently discovered the Sanjeevani Beauty Elixir by Forest Essentials and I started a process of learning about Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems. It literally means – Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge. Its key principle is that the mind and the body are inextricably connected and thus you require a balance, an equilibrium and harmony between them. Through meditation and a more relaxed state, you can slow down your breathing and heart rate, and decrease the production of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline and increase the good ones! (such as a serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins).

Forest Essentials is a 100% organic products Ayurveda beauty store. They offer a wide range of products from facial skincare and hair, to bath and body products as well as wellness. Their summer skincare products are amazing; body mists, fragrances, light day lotions and balancing water. The Tejal balancing water is one of my favourites; it’s a gel based, rich velvet-textured toner which hydrates the skin at a deeper level. And it contains some of the most fascinating ingredients! – Hyaluronic acid derived from sweet potato, mandarin peel extract, and deeply hydrating Gotu Kola herb.
